About the Flemish Environmental Law Association
The Vlaamse Vereniging voor Omgevingsrecht (VVOR) was established on 18 May 2006. The non-profit organisation aims at encouraging the debate on all law matters that concern the planning and protection of the human living environment. The use of the Dutch collective term 'omgevingsrecht' intends to strengthen the ties between environmental and urban planning law.
The association not only aims at legal experts but also at every individual interested in environmental law and policy. It furthermore has an international character: the VVOR represents Belgium in the European Environmental Law Association. In addition, there is an excellent collaboration with the Nederlands Vereniging voor Milieurecht (Dutch Environmentel Law Association).
Every working year the association organises a transboundary conference on a specific central theme and at least three member meetings are held in which the debate and the exchange of knowledge and ideas on new developments in environmental law and policy play a central role. The association furthermore publishes reports of both the member meetings and the conferences.
